Iconic movie quotes: use them wisely (part 1)
I have a thing for Steven Soderbergh. Or the ocean. Or guys with glasses and slight baldness. Or Ocean’s series. Or, more plausibly, for all of the previously mentioned ‘items’. With a pinch of taste for poker, though I’m steering clear of such temptations.
I’m currently watching ‘Ocean’s 12’ for the… (sigh) time :-). If TNT offers, I can’t pass off the opportunity. So as I’m listening to the witty dialogues, and obviously recognizing lines even in advance, an enlightening thought hit me: compile a list of my iconic movie one-liners. Don’t expect a cheesy, romantic, motivational mantra type of enumeration. I’m not the type :D. And most importantly, all of the below mentioned quotes are from movies I’ve seen and… seen, time and again.
So here goes, in a non-chronological order, just the way I like it:
- It’s not the age, honey. It’s the mileage.—Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones – Raiders of the Lost Ark
- Get busy living… or get busy dying.—Tim Robbins in The Shawshank Redemption
- The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.—Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects
- Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. – Clemenza in The Godfather
- Yippee-ki-yay, motherf***er. – Bruce Willis in Die Hard
- Show me the money! – Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire
- This is the day you will always remember as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow! – Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean
- May the odds be ever in your favor. – Elizabeth Banks in Hunger Games
- I have crossed oceans of time to find you. – Gary Oldman in Dracula
- By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me. – Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada
